On 8 August 2024, H.E. Mr. Ittiporn Boonpracong, Chairman of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT), paid a visit to the Australian Ambassador’s residence at the invitation of H.E. Dr. Angela Macdonald PSM, the Australian Ambassador, for a luncheon. The visit aimed to discuss a framework for bilateral cooperation in electoral processes, as well as strategies for countering foreign interference, disinformation, and misinformation in elections.

This discussion also included the possibility of renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ECT and the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). The two sides also agreed on the exchange of visits and reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation, particularly in election-related matters.
